How was Calumet created?
We have not always sold photographic equipment. Our story begins in 1939 in Chicago, and in the beginning we emerged as a manufacturer of... sporting goods. Who would have thought?
Soon, however, we supplemented our product line with photographic accessories, and among the first products under the Calumet private label were darkroom equipment and even cameras.
We wanted to infect our passion for photography and enable even more people to use our products. That's why, in 1990, our business expanded to Hamburg, and soon after, also to Berlin and Düsseldorf.
The rapidly growing interest and increasing number of photography and film enthusiasts made our desire to expand unparalleled. As a result, we became one of the largest suppliers of professional photo and video equipment in Europe.

Today we are part of the European Imaging Group, which includes brands such as:
- Calumet Photo&Video - a chain of photo stores in Germany and its own brand of photo products,
- Cameranu.nl - a chain of photo stores in the Netherlands,
- Cyfrowe.pl - a chain of photo stores in Poland,
- Sauter - a photography store in Munich,
- Wex Photo & Video - a chain of photo stores in the UK,

80 years of experience in the industry
80 years of experience in photography is something special, isn't it? We were there at the introduction of color photography, during the transition from analog to digital photography, and we accompanied professional and recreational photographers in their careers.
Now we are passing this experience on to our customers through the development of the Calumet store network in Germany and the development of our products under the Calumet brand, distributed by Sansa Europe.
We want to offer you everything you need to capture life's most important moments, make exciting campaigns or films and grow artistically.
